Fall at La Ferme de l’Oudon, in the heart of the Pays d’Auge

Fall at La Ferme de l’Oudon, in the heart of the Pays d’Auge

The days are getting shorter, the temperatures are cooling off, and, little by little, the colors around us are changing… Fall is settling in at La Ferme de l’Oudon, and with it comes an atmosphere we particularly love.

In our little corner of the Normandy countryside, in the heart of the Pays d’Auge, each season transforms the farm. But there’s something special about fall: the estate becomes quieter, the colors grow warmer, and the days naturally invite you to slow down.

The Farm Changes Colors

Around the houses and suites, nature is gently beginning its transformation. The greens of summer give way to shades of gold, orange, and copper.

Mornings grow cooler, sometimes shrouded in that light mist so characteristic of the Normandy countryside. Then the sun returns to illuminate the meadows, trees, and ponds.

This is a time to rediscover the farm in a new light, simply by taking the time to walk through the grounds and enjoy the peace and quiet.

Our animals also live in tune with the rhythm of fall

At La Ferme de l’Oudon, it’s impossible to talk about the seasons without mentioning our animals!

Our ponies Quetsh, Nautilus, and Julie, our dwarf goats Pimprenelle and Nicolas, Carlos, our Vietnamese pig, as well as our rabbits Fusain and Macadam, and the residents of our barnyard continue to liven up our days.

They are an integral part of life on the farm and give the estate that very special atmosphere we hold so dear.

The pleasure of enjoying the warmth of the spa

As the first cool days arrive, the wellness areas take on a whole new dimension.

After a walk through the Pays d’Auge or simply a day spent enjoying the estate, what a pleasure it is to return to the warmth of the heated indoor pool, the sauna, or your private wellness area.

Fall is also the perfect season to treat yourself to a massage, wrap yourself in a bathrobe, savor a hot cup of tea, and enjoy a few hours with no plans.

Outside, it may be gray, raining, or starting to get dark… here, that’s almost part of the charm.

On All Saints’ Day, the fireplaces are lit again

The start of the All Saints’ Day break also marks the return of a little ritual we love here at the Farm: the fireplaces in our homes are lit once again.

As the evenings grow cooler, the crackling of the fire once again accompanies the end of the day. After a walk or a few hours at the spa, returning to the warmth of home and settling in front of the fireplace is one of those simple pleasures of fall.

Evenings Are Becoming Cozy Again

Fall also marks the return of those evenings when we particularly enjoy not having to go out again.

The season is also changing in Timothée’s kitchen. Summer’s gazpachos and cold soups are gradually giving way to more comforting flavors: creamy carrot or butternut squash soup are perfect for warming up those first fall evenings.

At 7 p.m., dinner can be served right in your accommodations: cream soup, a casserole, cheese, and dessert make up our homemade dinner.

And the next morning, there’s no need to rush. Breakfast is also delivered directly to your cottage or suite.

Perhaps that’s what we love most about this time of year: taking the time.

Another Way to Discover La Ferme

Summer is lively, bright, and focused on the outdoors. Fall offers a different experience.

You get to enjoy your accommodations even more—the spa, a leisurely breakfast, a stroll between rain showers, a nice hot cup of tea, an evening by the fireplace, or simply the pleasure of doing nothing.

And finally, when the leaves begin to fall and the evenings grow cooler, La Ferme de l’Oudon becomes, perhaps, even more of a timeless retreat.

Why not come discover fall at the farm?

A few days to slow down, enjoy the Normandy countryside in the heart of the Pays d’Auge, soak up the warmth of the spa, and savor an evening by the fire… Fall is another way to experience La Ferme de l’Oudon.
